Understanding Oneself.

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

To know oneself is to live life to its fullest extent. Through our understanding of memory which occupies the mind, not only can we increase our skill sets - but we can comprehend the limitation of memory itself, thus giving us the opportunity to live intelligently. After all mind is over matter.

Understanding The Mind

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

Notwithstanding the immense amount of attention which has been directed in a broad general way to mind and its action, and although the constructive and creative ability of mind through thinking has been so long and so universally acknowledged, yet we are just now beginning to recognize the close and direct personal relation which thinking bears to man. The limits of the power of mind have never been clearly perceived, but recognition of their extent continually enlarges as knowledge and understanding increase.

The differences between ignorant and enlightened, between savage and civilized, between brute and man, are all due to mind and its action. All the multifarious customs and habits of mankind, whether simple or complex, though often attributed to other causes, are, from first to last, the direct results of thinking. The unwritten history of the evolution of clothing, from its rude beginnings in the far-distant and forgotten past through all the ages since man first inhabited the earth, though at first glance seemingly simple, yet, as a whole, is wonderfully complex and astonishing in its particulars. Its story is only the story of the application of mind to the solution of a single one of the vast multitude of problems connected with human requirements.

It is true that our factories and palaces, our temples and our homes, are built of earthly material, but mind directed their fashioning into the vast multitude of forms, more or less beautiful, so lavishly displayed by architecture in city and country. The multitudinous products of constructive art which are scattered in lavish profusion over the whole earth are marvelous exhibitions of what mind has done; and these are being multiplied daily,

Never is it more important than now to understand the mind and the very actions that occupy it.

How Can Educational DVDs Help You?

Monday, September 26th, 2005

Many children growing up do not have the confidence to ask questions at school. I speak from experience. We were told no question is stupid, but that did not change the fact that you still may fell that way, especially when people are laughing around you.

What I have come to realize is this. Using video, the internet or DVDs, can give anyone who does not have the confidence to ask questions or who may not understand the subject at the pace of the rest of the class or group, the ability to study the subject further.

This gives them a greater understanding of the subject so that they can ask questions with confidence.

Parents can also help by sitting down and going through the subject with there child. If at some point there are still questions you can write them down and ask the teacher the next time you have that class.

As an adult I find instructional material in any format is helpful as it gives me an insight into a subject before studying it further or before going to classes, so at least you are aware of what is required and weather or not this subject is for you.

Beyond that to learn about the world around you is exciting in and of itself.

Imagination

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

Thousands of people had seen an apple fall from a tree to the ground. But one day a man with a great imagination saw that commonplace thing. His imagination seized upon it, and he propounded Newton’s theory of the law of gravitation.

What is imagination? Here is a definition of imagination. Imagination is merely a combination of perception, memory, and association with initiative, will.

This is not at all text-bookish; but it will give you–as the text-books probably would not on such short acquaintance –a clear idea of the process.

Nourish your mind with enlightening material that will enliven the brain cells giving them the fuel to ignite the imagination. See you on the next post.
