Physical fitness is usually a result of regular physical activity, e.g., physical exercise, and proper nutrition. Pulmonery circulation is extremely important.

The circulatory system or cardiovascular system is the organ system which circulates blood around the body of most animals.

The right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood into the pulmonary arteries.

These arteries carry the blood to the lungs, where it passes through a capillary network close to air-filled alveoli.

This enables the release of carbon dioxide and the uptake of oxygen from the air. The now oxygenated blood returns to the left atrium in the pulmonary veins.

The history of strength training started with the ancient Greeks. Hippocrates eloquently explained the principle behind weight training when he wrote "that which is used develops, and that which is not used wastes away."

Strength training using isometric excercises was popularised by Charles Atlas from the 1930s onwards. The 1960s saw the gradual introduction of exercise machines into the still-rare strength training gyms of the time.
