So far so good
I gave it 4 stars because I've only had this product for a few days, but my daughter who is 12 months old loves it. I put her in front of it and she will watch the whole thing. The only thing she doesn't like is the man who talks for a few minutes when you first turn it on. She cries every time she sees him, and since she "misplaced" the DVD remote we can't skip to the menu and we have to suffer through. But other than that she loves it.

NOT BAD FOR THE PRICE
SINCE IT WAS ONLY $[...] IT IS NOT THAT BAD. BUT I GUESS I EXPECTED MORE. IT DOES NOT KEEP MY 2 YEAR OLD SON'S ATTENTION WHEN THE WORDS POP UP. BUT HE LIKES THE PICTUES OF THE CHILDREN AND THE ANIMALS. I AM SURE HE IS LEARNING SOMETHING, BUT NOT SURE IF IT IS HOW TO READ.

This really works
I have never seen a product that does the job like this one. Babies love to watch it and frankly they don't care about anything about slick production. The secret is the timing and fun presentation of the words. A baby sees the words and hears it pronounced then he sees the meaning of the word. A bonus is that the child is not forced to learn the alphabet because they are learning the whole word and it's meaning.

Overpriced
Almost the exact material is included in the book/DVD set, which was a bargain at almost half the price. If you want the flash cards though, this is a great system. My daughter loves the little sliding windows.

great concept, video could be better
The concept is solid and the cards are a nice supplement. Some of the starter words are good: clap, nose, eyes, baby, ... But some like elephant, gorilla, . . . could be replaced with words that would be more useful. If this ever gets redone by a professional production company - it will be absolutely huge. As is: it is a little boring and needs a repeat play mode.
