The passive voice is covered with sentences in several tenses. and There is an extensive lesson on health and first aid vocabulary. More advanced sentences and vocabulary are used with job interviews and with buying a house (visiting a home for sale, negotiating the price, obtaining a mortgage and comparing various types of mortgages available). There is a lesson on everyday business vocabulary and lastly, conditional sentences in the past: should have, could have, may have, might have, and would have plus the past participle. The main emphasis of Speak to Me is on the spoken word and the program uses an interactive method. Speak to Me makes ESL students THINK in English by challenging them. From the images or dialogs on the screen, students can make intelligent decisions and answer questions posed by the video instructor. After the student speaks, the video instructor gives the correct response. The DVD version was completely updated from the VHS version and includes: updated footage with more live dialogs, superior graphics, enhanced workbooks, 3 lessons on job interviews and getting a job, 1 lesson on buying a house, 1 lesson on obtaining a mortgage.
